The scaly-naped pigeon is a large slate grey pigeon with maroon colored plumage around the neck. The plumage on the nape appears scaly, explaining the common name of the species. Its range includes both the Greater Antilles (except for Jamaica and the Bahamas) and the Lesser Antilles.
